The Bob Almeida & Harry Price Award
Robert “Bob” Almeida 1950-2017
Harry Price 1941-2019
Almeida Price Award
Bob Almeida wore many hats in his life, always pursuing excellence in everything he did. His parents were immigrants who believed strongly in the power of education and saved to send him and his brother to college. Then he received a four-year scholarship to Loyola University in New Orleans, which shaped the rest of his life. After a successful career in the financial services industry, he and the love of his life, Debb, moved to Napa, CA where they founded Lagniappe Peak Vineyards. Bob became very involved in the community, and his love of music and the performing arts led him to a life of service and philanthropy.
After Bob Almeida passed away in 2017, Harry Price advocated for an award fund to be established in his name through If Given a Chance. Bob’s friends pledged to support the fund over several years, and just as it was getting established, Harry Price passed away in 2019. Supporters of the fund felt it was only fitting to honor the memories of both Bob and Harry with the fund.
Harry Price began his professional life by completing a law degree at the University of Texas. His long-term goal was to eventually become a real-estate developer. After law school, he moved to California where his soon-to-be-wife, Linda, lived. He started his first real estate project in Sacramento and then came to Napa. Harry turned the dilapidated Napa Mill into a showplace. He, along with his partners, built many commercial buildings throughout Napa and Solano counties. In all of his dealings, he always treated everyone with honesty and respect.
The Almeida Price Award Fund is a restricted fund at If Given a Chance, which will be used for financial and mentoring support to qualified Napa high school students who are interested in careers in business, financial services, real estate, or the arts beginning their junior/senior year, in accordance with IRS guidelines.
