What are you hoping to study in school?
I’m hoping to get into something in the medical field. Right now, I’m really interested in becoming an EMT and then eventually moving into firefighting. I’ve always liked the idea of being able to help people and doing something hands on. At the same time, I’m still keeping my options open and exploring different paths to see what really fits me. I want to find something that keeps me motivated to keep pushing forward.
Alexis is involved in the Fire Explorers Program with Napa Fire Department. He is an AVID student and works to contribute to his family’s bills.
What are you hoping to study in school?
Music and composition/sound engineering
Andrea would love to backpack around the world with her guitar.
What are you hoping to study in school?
I am hoping to study pharmaceutical science or earn my credentials in education.
Jasmine captains her tennis team and hopes to help others regardless of the career she chooses.
What are you hoping to study in school?
I want to study psychology and criminal justice in school. I hope to mentor teens who have struggled to stay on the right path.
Jayden loves playing sports and riding horses.
How did you hear about IGAC?
I heard about IGAC through my school. They provided me the information to submit an application, and specifically asked for me to apply.
Jaye wants to make a positive difference in the world and loves helping others.
How did you hear about IGAC?
I heard about IGAC through a past mentor (Karina Garcia) from CLARA UpValley Family Centers.
Outside of classes, Jimena wrestles, loves to read and hikes.
What are you most looking forward to in the IGAC program?
I’m really looking forward to the group meetings and the chance to build strong relationships with other students in the program. I think there’s something really powerful about being surrounded by people who have similar dreams and experiences. I’m excited to learn from others, hear their stories, and feel part of a supportive community where we all want to grow and succeed. I also look forward to the mentorship, guidance, and opportunities to prepare for college and beyond.
Maria is part of the soccer and dance teams at her school. She wants to advocate for people who have troubling navigating governmental systems.
What are you most looking forward to in the IGAC program?
I’m truly looking forward to all the support I’ll receive through the IGAC program and all the knowledge I’ll gain, especially when it comes to college matching and writing. Learning where to start when it comes to applying to colleges can be difficult, but I feel secure knowing there’s a team I can rely on and even build connections with!
Melody loves to sing and says her best traits are that she is goal oriented, organized, and a great communicator.
How did you hear about IGAC?
My high school counselor sent out an email about the IGAC program, leading me to mention it to a friend who happened to be in the program at the time. After hearing of the support and help that she had received from the program I decided to apply.
Michelle serves as the Drum Major for her high school band. She wants to give back to her community.
What are you hoping to study in school?
I am hoping to study something in the medical field. I am waiting to start physical therapy to see if I am able to do nursing school with my mild condition of cerebral palsy.
Shian is also interested in studying pharmaceutical sciences and works in a pizza parlor in her free time.
